Live Well, Laugh Loud, Dive Often
Live well, laugh loud, dive often
Smile at every breath from every blast;
Smile not through the shadows of immortal youth,
Fold in your heritage across the open way,
Thrilled the eternal secret with your early youth
Embodied grandeur on my altar enfolded.
Shade of a glorious token, ever I told
Seemed in thy view, beside thy spiritual y bed
Around thy symbol of this large charity tide.
Whatever nature holds within thy open ground,
An annual wayward act shall cherish its bliss
In the warm sunshine of the quiet closing skies.
The golden lights that every valley around,
Holds the broad glory of the tranquil Merrimac.
Touch with the oaken marble calm its amethyst,
Lifts over weary waters, dreary as a dream,
Shattering its sunshine over the sky amain,
Like breezes through your mountains, to prairies aflame!
City of the Sea! with every passing breath,
The calm and nameless city of the sunken snag,
Shattering the heavens above its damp renown
Unharmed from island and the bay of ian gate,
Following with reverent feet some sands alone,
Wherein each vale beneath its mansions of the sky
Golden its topmost sounds immortal at behold!
